Professor Sugata Mitra – SOLE (Self-Organised Learning Environment) lesson
On Friday, 20th May, Windsor High School and Sixth Form were delighted to welcome Professor Sugata Mitra who has a global reputation for his ground breaking work in education. Sugata inspired both staff and students to consider the possibility and potential benefits of exploring the concept of a Self-Organised Learning Environment, or SOLE, where teachers hand over the learning to their students by posing big questions. One of the students involved in the lesson said, “this way of learning is different because it is a more independent way of learning and you share ideas with other students”.
Sugata’s work featured recently on Sky News. Headteacher, Steve Lanckham commented “as a school, we value innovation and educational experimentation and so we are thrilled to welcome Professor Sugata Mitra, a renowned voice in education, to help us hone our skills and develop our practice”.
