Aims

We aim to provide all students with broad, balanced and relevant business, finance and enterprise experiences.

We are committed to providing first class learning for all students helping them succeed and maximise their potential.

What We Offer
Key Stage 4

Our students have the option to study Edexcel GCSE Business or the BTEC First Award in Business. Students who complete the GCSE course are assessed with 2 examinations at the end of the course, so developing crucial analytical and evaluative skills is a key focus. BTEC students compete 3 coursework units worth 75% and 1 Finance exam worth 25%. All business students at Key Stage 4 learn about real life businesses and have the opportunity to develop vital skills for the world of work.

Key Stage 5

Our Sixth Form students can choose from our range of engaging courses: Edexcel A level Business, Edexcel A level Economics and BTEC National Extended Certificate. At Key Stage 5, Business and Economic education is brought to life with the opportunity to visit fully operational businesses, and a range of interactive workshops aimed at developing key examination and revision skills.

Extra-curricular Activities

We believe enterprise and creativity are central to economic success. These critical skills will enable our students to thrive in an ever demanding global economy.

In Business Studies, students have the opportunity to gain a certificate in Young Enterprise, setting up a real company and competing with other schools across the world. In previous years we have been extremely successful, winning a wealth of awards.

It is also extremely important for our students to see how the real world of business operates, so we visit companies, invite in entrepreneurs and offer mini enterprise initiatives  throughout the school year.

Leadership

Within the Business Department, students are given the opportunity to become Business Mentors. This prestigious position allows students to develop further skills by supporting other Business students and to have a voice within the department.
